What is a State Board of Accountancy?
A state board of accountancy is the governmental body in your state that grants and issues certified public accountant licenses. They are in charge of setting the state’s CPA exam requirements, creating license qualifications, and overseeing the CPA testing process.
They also approve the rules and provide the framework for the CPA exam in your state.
How to Contact Your State Board of Accountancy for the CPA Exam
You will need to contact your State Board of Accountancy about the CPA exam several different times during your CPA journey.
First, you’ll have to send your college transcripts and applications forms to your State Board, so they can approve your eligibility to site for the CPA exam. This will most likely be your first interaction with your State Board.
Second, you’ll have to send your CPA exam results to them after you passed the exam. They are the legal entity that approves CPA license applications, so they will need to see your score results as well as other license application forms like work experience reports and ethics exam results.
